Edison Park Skate Spot
Huntington Beach, CA | 2021
Client: The City of Huntington Beach, RJM Design
Firm: New Line Skateparks
I designed this skate spot to be welcoming to all with its openness and simplicity. Thanks to its paired-down design, this spot has become a cult-favorite in the skating community. Pro-skaters travel specifically to Edison because it reminds them that skating at its core is about community and friendship. Beginners also love the park because it’s approachable and can be used by lots of people at the same time, without it feeling crowded or overwhelming. Usability for all was important to the project, because it’s located next to a high school.
This small “skate spot” was intended to be a temporary pilot project, but because the design and construction is so effective, it’s celebrating its second year of active use.

“This is awesome. It’s a nice place to get out and interact with your friends, get out of the house. I feel like it introduces more skaters to start skating and see how fun it is.”
